Gray Catbird

Family:  Mimidae

 

Length:  8.5  - 9 inches long

 

Wingspan:  11 – 12 inches

 

Description:  Gray upper parts and black tail. Black head cap and darkish bill it has paler gray under parts. Male and female are the same.

 

Habits:  Makes sounds like a cat. Meow

 

Diet:  Berries, fruit and insects

 

Mating:  Monogamous

 

Nest:  Solitary nester. Eggs hatch in 12 – 15 days.  Eggs are a green blue color.

 

Migration:  Migratory

 

Whitin Pond:  We see this bird during the spring and summer.
